I have a Workspace file that consistently crashes when the Paint Tool is opened. I once again set a custom Mask Default prior to this happening.
I created a detailed edge mask. Saved the mask as a file. Opened the mask file. Then upon the attempt to open the Paint Tool on the mask file (tiff) PWP crashes. Here's what the Workspace looks like on screen:

I have had many similar experiences in the past with PWP8 crashing when using the Paint Tool, often after doing a few prior operations. It got to the point where I don't do my painting in PWP (unless only a small bit and save often) and use another program for that. In fact, I think I may have commented on this before.
Jeff, as I have a computer which is not uber high end and, although has plenty of ram, it does not have a separate Graphics card (it's integral to the CPU, I think - not super knowledgeable in this area), I wonder if your system suffers from the same thing.
Hmm... my GPU is an AMD, so no CUDA available. Core I7-4790s @ 3.2 GHz, 32 GB RAM, Radeon R9 290x 8 GB Vid Mem. Win 10 Home x64
I'm going to play with it more later. I've seen a very similar crash a number of times in the past. This is the first time I can (somewhat) reliably reproduce it.
The forum software seems to mangle the uploaded jpgs. It's 8.0.79 I'm running - upgraded from 8.0.76 prior to starting the edit earlier.
Trying to zero in on parameters that change whether it crashes or not. Not seeing a crash yet running single monitor. Once did not see a crash with two monitors - all other times PWP crashed running two monitors. Not convinced that that's significant yet though, but something is causing the problem to occur intermittently.
