Mixed text - italic and not italic

Occasionally I print a layout of a number of photos of a particular insect or spider and put the common and scientific names at the bottom of the layout using the Text transform. By convention the family and species are written in italics.
The only way I've been able to work out how to write the common name and most of the scientific name in 'non-italic' and the rest in italics is to do it in two stages. Write the non-italic part then click OK then re-open the Text transform, type the italic section and manually line it up with the non-italic text.
Slightly tedious.
Anyone know a better way?

Mike.

Hadn't thought of that! Just tried in Open Office Writer which worked fine (I'm no longer a part of the Microsoft Office world).
Thanks. Mike.
