Moving projects to other computers

Back from an eclipse trip and am moving image files from laptop to desktop.

It would be nice if, in cases where PWP doesn’t find a file (upon opening a Workspace Script), that the PWP “Alert – At least one missing file in workspace script” dialog box allowed the specification of a new subdirectory to find all of the additional files.

For example, if on my laptop all my images and Workspace Scripts are in a subdirectory called:

C:\Users\Jeff\Pictures\2024_04_08\

And the subdirectory on my desktop is:

E:\Data\Photography\Canon\2024\2024_04_08

It would be nice to be able to specify merely the new path and have PWP find all of subsequent files in the new subdirectory.

This seems to be a common feature in other applications.

I am working on this for the next release.

A very common case is for storing the script file in the same directory as the input file.
If the script processor does not find the input file at the expected original location, it could examine if the original input file was collocated in the same folder as the script file. If so, it could search the folder where the script is stored, looking for the original file.

If the input file is found, the script processor could suggest using that file.
An acceptable reply from the user could be
  • yes
  • no
  • yes for all files in the batch.

Personally, I always keep my processed images in a separate folder from my raw input images, so this would not be helpful.
