Mask - Paint tool question

Post by rpm »

When painting with the Mask transform's Paint tool , the first indication of a brush cursor on the image is after clicking the mouse. If the estimated brush size is incorrect, then I must click Undo. Not all mask brush painting is done at 1:1, so the sample image in the mask transform is not very helpful. How do other users estimate the brush size before starting to paint a mask?

Thanks so much,
Ron

The next version of PWP will display the brush circle even when the mouse button is up.

The only other option is to click in the image border, but this can spill over into the image if the border is too narrow.

Thanks Jonathan for the ultra-quick reply. I'll look forward to the brush cursor in a future version.

Thanks again,

Any chance that the radius of the Mask paint brush could be adjusted with out having to return to the dialog box? For example, with the mouse scroll wheel.

The scroll wheel is already assigned to scrolling the underlying image.

But maybe would be a possibilty to have a key pressed which leaves the brush centred at its current position while moving the mouse to the transformation window and adjust the brush size ?
Would be a nice feature for the Red Exe Removal tool, too, to leave the circle (or ellipse) at a position and adjust it's size.
I recently worked on a image I needed to remove red eyes and was quiet tedious to always reposition the circle over the eye after a size adjustment.

I wanted to suggest the case with red eye removal seperately, but it fits well in this thread :)

For the next release, I have changed the behavior of the mouse wheel for the following tools only:

Clone, Paint, Miscellaneous, Mask Paint

When the input image is selected, adjusting the mouse wheel adjusts the brush radius up or down.

In all other situations the mouse wheel continues to provide horizontal or vertical scrolling.
