16-bit/48-bit support in PNG files?

Hello,

I did a quick search to see if I could find some previous info on the subject, but other than a comment that PWP does not support greater than 8-bits/channel in a PNG file, could not find an explanation.

I noticed that the PWP 6 beta also does not support greater than 8-bits/channel in a PNG file. As PNG seems to be (finally) becoming the format of choice among graphics professionals, it is curious that this limitation exists.

I have recommended PWP to many people as an alternative to Photoshop for editing 16/48 bit images. Unfortunately most of these people, as well as myself, want to save those files in PNG format.

If you were able to add 16-bit/48-bit support to the PNG format, I'm fairly certain you could sell quite a few more copies of PWP. :)
