Export and Copy to Clipboard

Export works well, either from File or in batch as a transformation, to downsample and sharpen an image in one go. But the output file has to be saved. Copy to Clipboard copies the image, but one can't downsize or sharpen it in one step, I think. Would it make sense and be possible to have some export options (such as resample and sharpen) as an option when Copying to Clipboard, or perhaps have an ability in File/Export to copy to the clipboard rather than saving the file?
