Bilateral Sharpen experiences

Post by tonygamble »

Unless my Search has missed them it seems that nobody has made any comments about using the new Bilateral option.

Following the Help File I am using Blur Threshold at between 30 and 40 - and Sharpen Factor between 1.25 and 2.

I have never found any advantage in moving the Sharpen Threshold slider from its zero position. Does anyone else move it?

And the Blur Radius is still a bit of mystery to me. Any views on how to set it?

Kind regards from an unusually sunny UK - unusual for a holiday weekend anyway!

Since bilateral blurring is a main concept of this transformation, maybe moving the Sharpen Factor slider to zero helps to understand how the other parameter work.

There is an extensive discussion of bilateral sharpening in the updated white paper Sharpen.pdf.

Thanks Jonathan,

I had not realised the white paper had been updated. I must check to see which others have and download all the new ones.
