the Stack images and the Mask clash

Post by davidh »

This is what happens with my PWP 7.0.18 on Win 7 64 :

open an image.
open the Mask dialog
create a mask (I used the rectangle)
click the left Apply and then the right Apply -> a mask is created, the Mask dialog stays open
so far OK

then

open the Stack images
you do not have to do anything
close the Stack images

then

try to close the mask dialog -> msg: Window in use, cannot close. (wrong, as the mask has been generated (right applied))
try to close the image -> it closes (OK)
try to close the mask -> it closes (OK)
try to close the mask dialog -> msg: Window in use, cannot close. (wrong)
click upper right Apply -> the PWP crashes
or
click OK -> another, fully black mask, is generated and the Mask dialog closes *
try to close the the black mask -> msg: Window in use by Amount Mask, cannot close. (wrong)¨
There is no way to close the fully black mask but to kill PWP.

*What is the purpose of generating a fully black mask once a normal mask has been generated? Why clicking OK just does not close the Mask dialog?

Also, when a mask is created and just left Applied (not generated into a mask image by right Apply) and then a transformation is open, the mask appears in its Amount icon, which is OK.
But when a mask image is generated by the right Apply button and then a tranformation is open, its Amount icon is filled with a fully black not existing mask instead of the generated mask which then has to be selected by clicking on the icon and choosing from the list of available masks.
Where does the fully black image (mask) come from? It has not been generated (by the right Apply) nor is it visible anywhere except in the transformation Amount icon. Is it not redundant like in the scenario described previously?

I have fixed this problem - actually there were several problems - for the next maintenance release.

When you click Apply in the Mask dialog, the current mask is saved and a new, empty mask becomes the current mask, just as if you had started up the Mask dialog normally. This is where the extra black mask is coming from. Unless you click Cancel, you will get an extra black mask generated.
