Color curves for "H"

Post by Winfried »

H-Curves are implemented within the
- Color curve Transformation
- Monochrom Transformation

Let me say, that I really like the new Monochrom Transformation and I like how the H-Curve is implemented.
To my observations the H-curve changes the Lightness/Value of the selected color. So it is possible to darken the sky or lighten the green or red or ..
This is a great function. I am thinking about doing a coarse mapping of the viewable color of the spectral to the HSV-colors, take the spectral response curves of some old B/W-films and adjust the H-curve accordingly. The result should be a more closer look of the old B/W-films.

On the other hand the H-curve in the Color Curve Transformation changes the hue. Frankly I like the implentation in PWP7 more.
Shifting tone of a sky from magenta blue to a normal blue works more easy for me with PWP7.

What I woukd like to have based on the H-Curve implementation in PWP8:
- a HV-curve (HL)-curve to lighten or darken selected colors (like in the Monochrom Transforamtion)
- a HS-curve to increase or decrease the saturation of selected colors

The Selective Color Correction transformation is the easiest way to do this. It can change the hue, saturation and brightness of any colors you select from the input image.

Yes, I know
but sometimes I need a greater color range.

In that case, what about using the Brightness or Saturation transformation with a mask based on a color range?

Yes there are other solutions. Sometimes the Remap Transformation works fine too.
I just thought, it might be a nice idea to enhance the color curve transformation.

Yes, I agree -- I'll have to think about whether it belongs as part of Color Curves or as a separate transformation
