Re: Creating "artificial" image format
Thanks, Jonathan. I have already applied your recommended technique and it quickly and almost effortlessly accomplished exactly what I needed. Although my current situation involves an important image with non-standard proportions that I want to mount and display, it is so easily done that I can vis...

Creating "artificial" image format
I am hoping that someone can provide step-by-step (Den-style) instructions for creating image length to width dimensions that are artificially larger than those of the actual desired image that is included (embedded) within those overall boundaries. I realize that description of my goal may not be s...

Re: Transform order and raw conversion
Kiril ... I went back to read your earlier post and you did, indeed, say that sharpening effects are not compromised by doing them separate from the raw conversion process. And since I use a more sophisticated sharpening procedure suggested by Den that involves mid-tone sharpening and local contrast...

Re: Transform order and raw conversion
Kiril ... Are you describing all versions of the PW raw converter or just more recent iterations? Although I intend to upgrade to version 7.0 soon, I am still using version 5.0. When using it for raw conversion, I haven't been able to identify all the dialog options you describe. Also, you seem to b...

Re: Announcing New Picture Window Release
Although I didn't get around to upgrading from 5.0 to 6.0, I will certainly upgrade to 7.0. Is it correct to assume I can skip a generation and go directly from 5.0 to 7.0? I've been using PWP since 2004 and version 3.5. Ditto to everything said by those above. I still can't believe there is softwar...

Re: File size / Metadata
Years ago, when I first learned about PWP's difference function, I used it as a way to "objectively" measure the deterioration caused by multiple saves of a jpg. There was (and still is) a lot written in other forums about how terrible it was to use jpg due to its "lossy" nature....

Re: Forum Post Notification
I'll be very interested in the answer to this question. I've been a member of the PWP forum community since 2004. The members section shows that in the 4 years since April 2009 when the forum was revamped, only 23 members (including Jonathan and Kiril) have initiated more posts than I have (quite su...

Re: Mask - Paint tool question
I would think there are precious few pieces of software where users can so easily and directly influence changes in the features of the program. Just one more thing that makes PWP such a Gem. I'm so glad I found it in 2004 when I bought my first digital SLR. It's like finding a secret vacation spot ...

Re: Switch to Mac
On my Windows 7 machine, I just visited the location identified in Dieter's posting. There I found files for profiles of different kinds of printing paper. I don't know how to identify the file names for a monitor profile or soft proofing profiles. So I don't know if they are among the files residen...

Re: PWP Seminar(s)
If the concept of a seminar, a webinar or additional video tutorials moves forward, I will be a "consumer" of instructional content and not a "provider" thereof. In that context, I'd like to offer a thought for you providers to contemplate. I am a real old-school guy (approaching...
