I tried to count colors in an image and when the process reached about the middle of the progress bar, it virtually stopped. I cancelled it but it took another several minutes to free the PC for another work. Finally it displayed an intermediate number of about 6 milions colors. The Cancel button do...

Re: Mask Oval and Rectangle shapes cut mask history
But if other masking tools are used in the Brightness transformation, there is no overlay. So the Rectangle and Oval tools will definitely play some role, as described further. Here is an update in brief: use any transformation allowing masks (I used Brightness curve, Filter, Color Balance): 1. crea...

But it will reappear after the output is dblclicked to recall the transformation dialog. If you then go to the Amonut square there is only the New mask comma...

Re: Mask Oval and Rectangle shapes cut mask history
Possible explanation of that 25% mask overlay:
Unlike with the other transformations it seems to appear only with the Brightness transformation as a system default mask. It needs to be reset before starting a new mask.

Re: Applying a curve mask can bring the PC to a halt.
OK, so Clear then just only removes the mask coloured overlay, but is supposed to keep the whole history. But it does not seem to work properly at this moment anyway. See the separate post. One last comment. If you build gradually after many changes a complex mask even with some repeated pronouncend...

I must have forgotten about the Reload Last Settings option. Thanks for reminding me.
It calls for revisiting the Help.

Applying a curve mask can bring the PC to a halt.
1. Load an image 2. start a transformation, do something (I used Brightness and then Filter) 3. go to Amount square, choose New Mask, Curve: shape it, clear and reshape it multiple times, also using different channels, inverting masks, etc., do as many steps as possible, Apply and close the mask dia...
