Histogram Tool and Cropping Image
Curious about the Histogram display after cropping an image. I have an image that has 2:3 proportions. The Histogram Tool shows the histogram predominantly on the right side, and actually bumping up to the right edge. Along this right edge, the histogram does not go all the way to the top, as it is ...

Re: Gray > Brightness
Thanks Jonathan,
I think your comment about not preserving the black and/or white points unless they are full black or full white (and of course, the image I was working on did not have full dynamic range) helps clear things up. I will try out your two suggested methods to see which works best.

Gray > Brightness
Trying to understand the Gray > Brightness transform a bit better. Was trying to change tones in an image and this transform did' t work quite as expected. I'm sure it is user error/misunderstanding. To figure things out, I took an image whose dynamic range did not extend the full width of the histo...

Image window question
I suspect this is not possible but thought I would give it a try anyway. I often do up two images to be viewed as a pair. After I have done the processing, I like to place both in the workspace, side by side, to check/confirm that the tones/colours match aesthetically. However, although both have th...

Re: All Good Things Come to an End
Having been tied up with other things (Christmas included), I have been out of the loop and unable to comment, until now, on the latest PWP developments. Over the years, I have used/tested a lot of image editing programs and, although I do use NX-D for raw processing and a bit of CS6 for a few other...

Deleting 32bit version
After having my computer turned off for a few days (I always shut down all programs and turn off the computer when I am finished an image editing job and the comp is not connected to the web), I turned it on this morning and a 32 bit version of PWP immediately opened automatically without any action...

Re: Color Balance
Doug and Jonathan, Thanks for your replies. I actually read the noted white paper prior to my first post. I think I understand the concept and reasons behind colour balancing an image, however, I wished to clear up a few points. The white paper states "colour casts can arise from many different...

Color Balance
I recently processed a few images that I took while on a hike (Joffre Lakes chain in B.C. if you ever get a chance, they are absolutely spectacular). Part of the hike was quite socked in with fog and because it was quite early, it was also a bit on the dark side. As most of those early morning image...
