Re: Pre Sharpening?
Regarding "Creative Sharpening"... I have found that it is particularly useful and generally generic to limit sharpening to an image's mid-tones so that highlight and shadow noise if present do not get sharpened and become more apparant... and limiting "creative sharpening" to mi...

Re: Strange collapse of image in post-processing
Perhaps you are missing the importance of having a transform editing "Preview" view that is free of anti-aliased artifacts when doing serious image editing... I personally find the non-"anti-aliased" Preview view at 1:1 invaluable. In another thread JS provided this explanation.....

Re: question for Den
Yes... to the low/high pass filters of the Composite transform... but I do not recall the context to the DPReview posting. You might search the PWP5 Beta message board as I seem to recall some comments by Jonathan regarding the filter's use and definition. I still remain somewhat fuzzy and have used...

OT CopyRight/License of Scan'd, Retch'd, Restr'd Images
I resently scanned, retouched, and restored images from a deceased family member's extensive photo album set and produced a CD-ROM for other family members to obtain prints commercially rather then using my rather meager home printing resources... One commercial printing source declined to print som...

Re: PWP 5.0 Best RAW dng WB Adjust Sequence
TomB... This suggestion may not be for the technical purist... but perhaps more for the photographical artist. My experience with strong daylight/strong shadow landscapes/seacapes is that there may be more than one WB needed depending on the visual elements in frame ...is this (1) a near close up of...

Re: OneStep - ImageBlending/ToneMapping at DPReview
Update-- The SNS-HDR program is NOT working as I thought on my system [Vista32 Home Premium]. It is only performing an aggressive Local Contrast Enhancement on the first image that is placed as instructed on the program icon and not waiting for the loading of the other exposure image versions. Sinc...

OneStep - ImageBlending/ToneMapping at DPReview
A recent DPR RetouchingForum thread introduced a preliminary image blending/tone mapping program in development apparantly by an individual that may be of interest... "SNS-HDR" http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1006&message=33683786 The offered 'lite' version provides no...

Re: PS Luminosity Based Masking vs Dens 3 Tone
The suggested tone range luminosity masks of the tutorial are not particularly difficult to achieve with PWP. As PhotoShop normally functions in the RGB color space model, achieving a luminosity based mask is somewhat more involved then it is using PWP’s Mask Tool and its HSV-V channel for luminosit...
