Re: "Gamma error in picture scaling"?
Interesting link... and I can confirm that PWP5 does not seem to have gamma correct scaling. I took the "gamma_colors.jpg" image from the web page and reduced it 50% with the Resize transform's default bicubic method settings. I then converted the "gamma_colors.jpg" image from 2....

Re: Picture Window 5.0 & Windows Vista Ultimate
Darius...
Just another belated thought... Did you perhaps download Picture Window Standard rather than Picture Window Pro? i.e., does "Picture Window Pro 5.0.1.7" in the upper left program border as illustrated above?

Re: Picture Window 5.0 & Windows Vista Ultimate
I have Vista Home Premium and my PWP5 Transformations drop downs to ColorCorrect and Remap look like this for an 'active' color image in the program's working space... http://www.ncplus.net/~birchbay/dl-c/dl-c_posts/PWP5dropdowns1.jpg If you are experiencing something different, than I pass to Kiril...

As things are a bit slow... I will bump this thread as I have come across a PS plug-in freeware that has some bearing on the thread discussion... The plug-in is "virtual Photographer" and can be run from "virtual Studio" if you do not have PS plug-in platform: http://www.optikver...

Re: Picture Window 5.0 & Windows Vista Ultimate
To completely get the program's main and secondary menu drop downs besides activating any of the tool bar icons, there needs to be an image open in the program's working space. For the ColorCorrection and Remap transforms to be available, the working space active image needs to be in color....

Re: Gradient Multi-point
Correction: ...from Step3... Lowering mask white from 100 will decrease the lightening effect of the starting image's dark areas and raising mask black from 0 will decrease the darkening effect of the starting image's light areas. Should read: Lowering mask white from 100 will decrease the lighteni...

Re: Gradient Multi-point
(1) I have used colored multi-point fill when creating a virtual textured background for an extracted main subject such as in a portrait... or perhaps a bird extracted from an 'as shot' background that contained too many distracting branches/leaves. (2) My favored technique for ambient tone balancin...

Re: X-Rite ColorChecker Passport and PWP5
Tom... eh! eh! more to consider... what of gray tone brightness/contrasts? http://www.ncplus.net/~birchbay/dl-c/dl-c_posts/DLcPost_SPPAuto_Feb5_SDIM0182-1_Remapped-1-HDR-1.jpg Just as there are millions of combinations of colors/tones, there can be choices for each one based upon one's preferences, ...

Re: X-Rite ColorChecker Passport and PWP5
Tom... Your latest image version is improved, at least to my eye. The magenta color cast of the middle distance is lessen, although a cyan cast tends to develop at the low saturation skyline. In the case of landscapes, do not under estimate the value of Kiril's suggestion to make color corrections b...

Re: X-Rite ColorChecker Passport and PWP5
Just curious... what kind Sigma conversion image do you get when you use the camera set to its auto-white balance and 'evaluative metering' and the manufacture's conversion software that came with the camera? I have found that often until there is a better understanding of a new camera's characteris...
