Re: Blocked shadows when dumbing down an image for the Web
Thank you, Jonathan. I think you are correct that the other monitor had skewed brightness or contrast settings, like many computers hooked up to the Web. Hence the title of this thread. It was a shock to read that the SMPTE-240M profile is built at a gamma of 1.8. True, for careful readers the white...

Re: Blocked shadows when dumbing down an image for the Web
Are you seeing a big visual difference on-screen when you change profiles and transform the image data? On the wide gamut monitor, not much (viewing the Adobe RGB image with the monitor set to display the Adobe color space and viewing the sRGB image with the monitor set to display the sRGB color sp...

Re: Bug in Geometry | Level ?
How this situation came to light: People post small photos for discussion on websites like dPreview.com. The image might have only a few hundred thousand pixels, but with PWP I can often raise shadows and adjust color very well to show what can be done. And then a suggestion to level the horizon ...

Re: Bug in Geometry | Level ?
Yes, the three toolbar options work as described, and yes, the Level operation may need to crop the original image. Still, at 1:1 preview (which is 1:1 because the original image is small relative to the screen space that PWP has), the entire resulting image is shown. When the user then right-clicks...

Re: Vibrance vs. Saturation and PWP's Saturation transform
How about this? Open HSV-S and activate probe. Probe the skin you want to remain constant and probe something you want to saturate. Start vectors around the skin probe and delete the skin probe. Leave these vectors fixed. Start vectors around the saturation target and delete the probe. Raise the hig...

Bug in Levels and Color | Full Range ?
In PWP 6 and I believe PWP 5, using an image that has different room for Full Range expansion in HSV and HSL: Open Levels and Color. Change from HSV to HSL in the dropdown dialog. The dynamic range pointers will change, as they should. Opt | Reset. The dynamic range pointers do not reset to HSV alth...
