Re: Singular file finder

Again, I use IMatch and have written a procedure that lists all files that do NOT appear on the target drive (or DVD/CD). This tells me which files I need to backup.

If you want to use IMatch then let me know and I will give you the procedure to do this.

Re: Singular file finder

IMatch will do what you want but you do have to buy it. IMatch is a great tool and hugely powerful but with that it can be a little difficult to use. You can also write scripts to do anything you like. The matching facility (hence the name) can be used to find duplicates across your whole directory ...

Re: Computers and alacrity

Additional memory will not make any difference either until there is a 64-bit version of PWP released. You would also need a 64-bit Version of Windows to take advantage of more memory than 4Gb.

Looking at the readout tool these squares have exactly the same RGB values! One of those optical illusions - very good!

OT -- Renaming files your own way!

I have often wanted to rename files based on EXIF data as well as other criteria like sorting by datetime taken and then adding sequence numbers so that a slide show has all images in chronological order. There are many programs around that do renaming but nothing that comes close to the elegance an...

Re: OT -- An alternate search utility for Vista

Have a look at Index Your Files http://www.indexyourfiles.com/ This program creates indexes which you can define and have full control over. You can then select which indexes to search. Index creation is very quick and you can schedule the index updates at your convenience. I like this control. Fina...

Re: RAW Converters?

I have been using RAW for many years now and first used CaptureOne, this was before LightRoom and many others. I have since moved to LightRoom for the simple reason it is very easy to get great results quickly and there are very frequent updates to support new cameras. For things I can't do in Light...

Re: PNG files open as negatives

I downloaded the PNG file of sensor sizes and looked at it in a number of programs that do not support he Alpha channel (transparent channel) and they all displayed the image with a black background. If you load the file in the GIMP (free graphics program) there is a menu option: Layer | Transparenc...

Re: Forum Question / Sugestion

To do this you need to configure the link with a parameter to open in a new window/tab. I am not sure you can do that when adding a standard link to the forum. I use Forefox or Chrome as my browser and you can configure the 'Middle Button' (usually the roller button) to open a link in a new tab. The...
