Maybe my PC is configured a bit oddly but it hangs for an annoying length of time as all my images are on my driv...

Re: Remove shine from photo of oil painting
Thanks Den,
Took me a while to work out how to get that shape but, once I did, it worked fine.
Look after yourself.
Bye

Re: Remove shine from photo of oil painting
Can anyone be bothered to revisit this thread. I am trying Jonathan's method that uses the mask that is not saved until the overlap is applied. Reading my last post it seemed I did crack it once ages ago. Now I cannot get the overlap to make any difference to the mask I have applied. This is the pri...

Re: Can I produce a jpg with a transparent background?
Thanks Jonathan,
I've got what I need as a .png from GIMP.
This is an example of my new Juicebox web folders - with a GIMP watermark.

Re: Can I produce a jpg with a transparent background?
Wilfried. The crucial thing when you create a New Image is to go into the Advanced drop down and pick Transparent Background. After that it is far more intuitive and how you get back to Transparent if you opt for an ordinary (default) background I never puzzled out. As always Google/YouTube was the ...

Thanks Winfried,
I am stuck.
I have emailed the man who runs Juicebox, which the web builder I am trying to move to.

Re: Can I produce a jpg with a transparent background?
Gosh it's complicated if you have not used GIMP before. Do you have a URL with some instructions? What I have so far is my PWP jpg with my text in colour against a white background. I need to turn the white to transparent and save as a PNG. I read about Alpha channels but am still in the dark. Tony

Thanks Winfried.
I'll use GIMP.
I was having a fiddle with Mask as I guessed those were transparent - but with no success so far.
