Re: Levels and Colour - Midtone contrast preserving WP and BP
...How about the Composite-SoftLight or HardLight transform where the Input and Overlay image are the same?... Black, midtone-brightness [50% tone/colors], and White would be preserved from the Levels&Color adjusted image version, however there would be slight color changes as this is a RGB tran...

Hmmm.... Showing "clipped channel pixels" ? The possibilities: HSV Color Space model... ...(1) Either one or both of the HSV-V and HSV-S channels could have clipping HSL Color Space model... ...(2) Either one or both of the HSL-L and HSL-S channels could have clipping RGB Color Space model...

Re: RAW and Camera Colour Profile
Perhaps it is worth studying 'dcraw' so that conversion can be isolated from programed software edits... here are dcoffin's color options from his manpage: COLOR OPTIONS By default, dcraw uses a fixed white balance based on a color chart illuminated with a standard D65 lamp. -w --Use the white balan...

Re: RAW Dynamic Range
Marv... I was feeling a bit uncharitable this morning. By the time I had something to eat... the editing time period had closed! In truth, my illustrations for the HSV and HSL RAW Dialog 'FullRange' expansion are self-serving in that they DID NOT include Color tab edits... had they been made, their ...

Re: RAW Dynamic Range
Something to keep in mind when setting black/white points or expansion to Full Range is the color space model in which it is done... and also if the black/white points require color cast removals... ...as images and one's preferences for them are not always the same each time for every image... PWP'...

Re: Chroma Noise Reduction
Maciej... while this does not provide a direct PWP solution, it is a way to combine DPP preferences with PWP... ...I sometimes find that Canon's DPP colors are more preferably than those that can be easily achieved with PWP... so perhaps the the Extract/Combine channel substitutions described here.....

Re: Colour Merge Mode
Dieter... About 20% of the raw conversions of my image files are done both with Canon's DPP [to access 'after the shot' the WB and Picture Style settings for my Canon EOS-350D] and with PWP. Sometimes the color rendition of DPP is more preferable than that achieved with PWP... but the tone rendition...

Message Board -- some images do not display
For the past two weeks, only some of the 'inline' or 'attachment' images will display in some of the recent message board threads... a particular thread will or will not display all images posted in that thread ... and I cannot determine the cause. I use IE9 [default] and Firefox 4 browsers, and bot...

Re: 'SNS-HDR Lite' and PWP
Mike... In G. Luijk's tutorial, there is a section on "Exposure Correction Using Curves" which he shows how to easily do with linear RAW data [before a gamma is applied] and just used the simulated exposures as an experiment in SNS-HDR Lite. It did provide a viable result. Whether better o...
