Re: Adding noise anyone?
I'm bumping this as there is a relevant thread running on DPR http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/readflat.asp?forum=1014&thread=34664232 You can read the stuff yourself, but I'll copy one post:- "Do it all the time. Exhibition prints - Lambda 32 inch. From A dsl (5d/5d2). I only use guassian...

Re: High ISO Digital Monochromic [BW] Imaging
Well done for spotting that, Den. I've installed it and am having an experiment. It seems pretty varied in what it can do. Initially I felt it might make me a bit lazy. But 99% of my prints are simple improvements and it is rare that I go for special effects - so it will be a good complement to PWP....

Bilateral Sharpening for Dummies, please
I have been most impressed by Den's multi-stage sharpening process. However, I do want to learn how to use Bilateral Sharpening on its own. I have the white paper, but need more help. What should be the start point for all the sliders before one tries to optimise them in the order suggested by the w...

Re: Three Stage Sharpening
Mike,
You talk about two stage.
Is this different to the Three Stage that Den has been talking about in this thread.
I am confused.

Re: High ISO Digital Monochromic [BW] Imaging
Den, Foregive me for not posting an image for experimentation. I certainly will. I took some time out in a bookshop yesterday looking at some books of the work of people like Sebastiao Selgado. Google quickly finds some reasonable sized examples. Is not the difference between his prints and that por...

Re: High ISO Digital Monochromic [BW] Imaging
Den,
Not ignoring you. Just rather dominated, photographically, by several 'asap' requests.
I think I have a nice low ASA shot of Bosham, that might make an interesting High ISO challenge.
I'll find something soon.

Re: High ISO Digital Monochromic [BW] Imaging
Den,
I've tried your route but, like you, I have yet to produce a convincing result.
Maciej,
You said "I'm not sure what's optimal, but at least in one case it really looked like a grain"
I can't wait to see that when it's for public consumption!

Maciej,
"if you sandwich it through the reversed brightness mask"
Could you explain this a bit more, please.
