Unable to Close Window
Had a strange experience today with the new (to me) PWP 5.0. It may never occur again. But if it does, I'd like to know an easier solution than the drastic one to which I finally resorted. I created a mask and, leaving it "active" on the image, did a Brightness Curve transformation. After ...

Re: Print Software Recommendation
I am pleased that someone has posted to keep this thread going and has also added the question of why not just use PWP -- as long as one doesn't have some "special" or unique printing needs. I would like nothing better than to use a single program (PWP) for both editing and printing. It's ...

Print Software Recommendation
I've been a PWP user and fan for 6 1/2 years (starting with version 3.5) and am about to upgrade from 4.0 to 5.0. The upgrade has been delayed until this week's acquisition of a "modern" computer. (Even version 4.0 ran only marginally well with just 256 MB of Ram -- or maybe it was 512 MB....

Re: Lightness and Brightness
This image (optical illusion) is used in a video on the website for the WhiBal white balance card. As I recall, the video includes other optical illusion demonstrations that are designed to demonstrate that you can't always trust your eyes when it comes to determining colors or tones. I did acquire ...

PWP Advert in Shutterbug Magazine
Today, I saw for the first time, a published advertisement for Picture Window Pro in a photo magazine. It was in Shutterbug and featured a photo by frequent forum poster Maciej Tomczak (congratulations) and highlighted a PWP attribute that makes it well suited for his needs as a world traveling phot...

Re: Replacing Complex Tone/Color Backgrounds
Den ... I tried to execute your tutorial with the pineapple image. Everything was going well until I got to step #5 which involved a Mask instruction involving "FloodFill". I couldn't identify what this meant with my PWP version 4.0. I don't know what is meant by "FloodFill" and ...

Re: Color Temperature in Color Balance Transform
Den ... How do you "neutralize" the white/black points? And I assume you mean by this that when the color cast is being influenced by the temperature slider, it is only affecting the midtones and leaving the dark and light tones alone. Is it as simple as getting to the temperature slider f...

Re: Color Temperature in Color Balance Transform
Thanks for the response fellows. It sounds as if the color temperature slider is not your first go-to method for adjusting a color cast or incorrect white balance setting in JPEG. Nevertheless, I'll see if your suggestion about searching under "color picker" in the HELP file turns up somet...

Color Temperature in Color Balance Transform
I am still using PWP 4.0 (pending an upgrade of my 2002 vintage computer) so perhaps the current 5.0 version of PWP does not contain the feature I am about to ask about. In the Color Balance transformation, I discovered, under an "Options" button, a color temperature slider. In a presentat...

Re: jpeg default quality for saving
Mike .... I guess we both received value from this thread. I have never posted an image to this or any other board. My downsizing has been limited to e-mailed photos. I just assumed that downsizing to a max number of pixels was sufficient. But now that I am aware of the 50Kb file size constraint, I ...
