Inactive Undo button in Mask dialog
All of a sudden the Mask Undo button is inactive for default freehand masking. Other Mask commands like oval, brightness, and flood fill work. Re: Color Remap bug
Yes, den. Not a code bug. Good.
Still, the dialog opens with the probe button activated. The behavior seems inconsistent within the dialog, as I reported, and also don't most dialogs open with the probe button if any not activated?

Color Remap bug
Try this:
Color Remap
Shift key | probe a point
Open Edit ending color
Remove color pair
Shift key | probe another point --- fails
I can provide K. and J. one of the image files that failed if needed

A Web resource for adding grain
You might look at this essay, which gets to a discussion of your situation:
http://www.prime-junta.net/pont/How_to/ ... _films.pdf
It includes images of grain that you can capture and use. You could upsize for coarser grain.

Re: Switch to Mac
Is Wine an evolution of a Windows emulator program that ran over Linux? If so, you will save yourself many hours of fussing with problems like this one by using one of the virtual machine programs that come much closer to treating both the Mac OS and Windows as equals on a Mac computer.

Re: How to reduce image size without losing sharpness?
A brief digression in praise of Special Effects | High Contrast for a different purpose. It is such an easy, effective way to create a mask of bright areas. As good or better than a mask made by brightness stair step. There are many bits of PWP lore that should be in one place, perhaps a grab-bag Ti...

Re: Enabling 10-bit Color
In my experience, there are two big steps to amazing and accurate color. The first step is buying a colorimeter and calibrating an IPS panel LCD monitor; that would be JS's advice to set the gamma curves for the three channels correctly. The second step, much more expensive, is getting a monitor tha...
