Measurement patch printing

I need to print some untagged colour and grey patches for creating a printer profile. I realise that this might be a dumb question, but can someone confirm that in order to do this I need to 'disable' colour management in the colour management dialogue please? Obviously the printer driver also needs...

Re: ProPhoto space

Thanks for the link, mjdl. That site provides me with all I currently need, and seems to work well.

Re: ProPhoto space

Jim Perhaps like you I am not so much 'into' profiles that I'd want to pay out serious money for specialist software, so the Windows applet looked attractive. However, I find that it only picks up monitor and output profiles, and then not all of my printer profiles (though they work perfectly well w...

Jim

Thanks for the links and comments. I'd spotted the Bruce Lindbloom site before: it's not for the faint hearted is it!

Re: ProPhoto space

Jonathan, that could be it I suppose. If I use PHOTOME to inspect the metadata, one file has a description of length 131 and the other 134. In all other respects it appears to be the same; even the creation dates and times are the same. But I don't understand why the thumbnails should look different...

Re: ProPhoto space

One further thing I've noticed is that if I open the ProPhoto-space image using the ProPhoto working space, (which precipitates the conversion to the 'new' ProPhoto space), and save the image, the new thumbnail in the browser looks rather different to the original. The opened images are identical ho...

Re: ProPhoto space

Thanks Maciej. I've done that and I can now select ProPhoto as the working space. Interestingly though, when I open an image produced from LR3 beta in ProPhoto space, with ProPhoto used as a working space in PWP, I get a profile mismatch and the image is converted from ProPhoto to ProPhoto ! So what...

ProPhoto space

Whilst I am well aware of the arguments for and against using ProPhoto as a working space, I was wondering whether it is indeed possible to use ProPhoto as a working space in PWP? I think I've seen earlier reference on the old forum about doing so, but it does not seem to be a space that I can selec...

Re: Dark Prints

I wasn't so much interested in using the ramp for monitor curves, but as a simple way of generating one. Having checked the 'half-width' patches at either end with the readout tool, they do seem to be pure black and white. I guess that you are talking about the full width patches, though the total n...
