Re: PW cannot handle Olympus RAW files?

Kiril, Thank you for your reply. The PW image *was* generated with VNG interpolation so no improvement is possible by changing the interpolation method (AHD is much much worse). Yes, you're right about the contrast difference - I'll have to investigate this a little further. I've downloaded raw file...

Re: PW cannot handle Olympus RAW files?

And here's the last example I promised. This is in-camera generated jpeg (zoomed at 4:1):

PW cannot handle Olympus RAW files?

Hi, I'm puzzled by the fact that Olympus raw files (ORF) converted in PW (PW Pro 5.0.1.6) acquire an upleasant gray mesh which is quite distinctive at larger zooms. To show you what I mean, here are some examples. This is a test picture of gray autumn sky - it should be quite uniform. Here is how it...

Re: RAW recalculation

No, definitely not. When the new version came out it was very iritating for me that I had to wait every time I nudged a little one of the settings knowing that I have to make slight changes to several of them. Now, I got somehow used to it, but definitely I'm not happy with it. I thing that a "...

Re: Browser - loading RAW thumbnails

I work with Olympus RAW files *.orf and the thumbnails are loading very fast. The loading time is the same as in case of jpgs.

Re: Raw and Magenta Highlights

Hi, I've run into the same problem and then I've found out that the magenta cast disappears when you change the color space to HSL in the RAW dialog. So now I'm switching between HSV and HSL depending on the photo - generally I prefer the colors rendered in HSV but if there is a bright sky I switch ...

Re: Show clipped pixels in RAW dialog

Maciej, Thanks for the explanations. It's my mistake. After carefully reading once again your post I have understood that you're talking about Dynamic Range and I have been using the Highlights slider all the time. "Show clipped pixels" option works fine when Dyn. range is set to more than...

Re: Show clipped pixels in RAW dialog

Well, that is exactly what I did. In fact I have extended the white point to 100% and I could see the sky was blown white. Then I switched the "Show clipped pixels" option back and forth and as far as I could tell the preview stayed the same, i.e. the sky was blinding white with no sign of...

Show clipped pixels in RAW dialog

I can't help the feeling that "Show clipped pixels" option in RAW dialog is not working. I'm doing exaggerated changes to the histogram and cannot see any difference between off and on states of this option. Has anobody actually seen this option working? Am I missing something? Cheers, Bog...

Re: TFT monitor

A few months ago I had to make a similar decision. Finally I bought NEC's MultiSync LCD2470WNX and I'm quite happy with it. There are some minor issues in some games (yes I'm playing games :) ) - namely slight ghosting in special conditions - but I think that the overall color rendering and picture ...
