You can set whatever defaults you prefer via the Settings Menu -- Save as Default.

Re: Associating image file formats during installation

Most web browsers will not download unzipped exe files.

Windows has support for zip files built in, so for the most part they just look and act like folders. Just double click them and drag the contents where you want to extract it.

Re: Associating image file formats during installation

Since file associations don't seem to work reliably anyway, I am currently leaning toward just removing this screen from the installer altogether. When I saw the installer supported this feature, I assumed it worked reliably. Since it doesn't, what's the point in having it? Once the beta period is o...

Re: Associating image file formats during installation

Windows over the years has changed the way file associations work many times. I have found that the only thing that works reliably to change associations is to use File/Open With... in Windows Explorer.

Re: Associating image file formats during installation

Ideally there would be buttons for Select All and Select None, but unfortunately this dialog box is created by the installer I am using and cannot be customized in that manner. Some users will want one thing and some another -- I happen to use it differently from you and like it the way it is, but i...

Re: Size of distributive, size installed program and what is cufft64_100.dll

Even reducing the size of the help file and removing the two large bitmaps only reduces the install file by a little over 30MB. Well worth doing, but not that big a reduction overall since it is still over 217MB. Since installer files are compressed, not all of the reductions in the file sizes show ...

Re: Size of distributive, size installed program and what is cufft64_100.dll

I was able to reduce the size of the help file by about 30MB (roughly 30%) by resizing some of the larger embedded image files. Help files are already compressed, so trying to reduce it much below that size would be increasingly hard for little return. With a little work, I should be able to elimina...

Re: Size of distributive, size installed program and what is cufft64_100.dll

cufft64_100.dll is a package for doing fast fourier transforms using CUDA -- these are used by the Texture transformation. It is an adaptation of the FFTW package which makes massive trade-offs in size to get the fastest possible performance. The speed boost in Texture with an NVIDIA card is huge. I...

Bug fix release 21-Sep-2019

I have posted a new release (21-Sep-2019). The changes (taken from the update log) are: Scratch Removal: improved algorithm that decides where to insert new controls points. Curve Control: the settings menu now has an option to smooth histograms. This can also be set as one of the default curve opti...

Re: Bug fix release 16-Sep-2019

For the next release I reworked the method of determining where to insert new points. It does a much better job of guessing where you intend to insert and also lets you add to either end of the scratch to extend it.
