image browser on second monitor?

Hello Jonathan, Great to see that PWP 8 has reached alpha state. Nice clean interface and very well documented as always, respect! I just started exploring and noticed that it is now possible to place dialogs outside the main program window. But is it also possible to 'undock' the image browser and ...

Re: Who is still out there?

I keep using PWP as my final editor.
Depending on my needs and curiosity I check the forum occasionally to check for insights or updates.

Nice to know that PWP 8 is under construction.

Re: All Good Things Come to an End

I struggled with Photoshop for several years, its way of working never lined up with my way of thinking. In 2010 I decided to look for an alternative and played around with every piece of photo editing software I could find. On the website of Norman Koren I learned about PWP. Using PWP was a relief,...

Re: DoF calculator ideas

Hello Jonathan, This makes the tool much more useful for me. One little thing still on my wish list would be the possibility to lock the field of view and have the program re-calculate the focal length if I change the distance, and re-calculate the distance if I change the focal length. But that's j...

Re: DoF calculator ideas

Here is another link with a nice example: http://digital-photography-school.com/the-problem-with-the-focus-recompose-method/ @ Dieter, yes, the rotation point is important if you want to predict the rfc by calculation. In the example above the rotation point is probably below the camera in the tripo...

Re: DoF calculator ideas

Here is a better explanation: http://www.mhohner.de/newsitem2/recompose?lang=e But I wonder if a calculated rfc is useful in real life as most lenses have some kind of field curvature. Or is the field curvature in general less important at short focus distances? This is just out of general curiosity...

Re: DoF calculator ideas

Hi Jonathan, That would be very nice. I am looking forward to it! In the mean time I just found an interesting program called Barnack (http://www.stegmann.dk/mikkel/barnack/). I haven't tried it yet for real shooting, but it does give a lot of information. It even shows the recomposition focus circl...

Re: DoF calculator ideas

Hi Doug, Thanks for the link. I am in Europe, so metrics are convenient for me :) There actually are several FoV calculators, but it would be nice to have one integrated with the DoF calculator. I still have an old Palm pda around with David Eubanks pCam program on it that has FoV and DoF combined. ...

Re: DoF calculator ideas

Hi Jonathan, Great to know you are considering future versions! Personal lens setting files would be a nice feature. I think that sharpness/aperture is the most interesting parameter to include, but also closest focus distance is useful. There is another feature I could use: calculating different FL...

DoF calculator ideas

Hi, Do you still support the DoF tool? I am using the DoF program (Windows) for photography of products. I want to have the entire product as sharp as possible. As I shoot mostly handheld to get various angles of the product I am more interest in the approximate DOF range than in near and far distan...
